JOB SUMMARY

Health Care Resource Centers, a progressive substance abuse treatment organization committed to the highest quality of patient care, is seeking a Full -Time Medical Assistant at our Boston, MA location.

The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the medical department. Quality of work, performance expectations and responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the organization’s mission statement, goals and objectives and with current standards of practice and research trends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Validate patient’s acceptance into our treatment program and assist patients in completing insurance forms for submission

Perform all aspects of laboratory specimen collection per HCRC guidelines

Manage monthly patient lists for all testing

Triage/manage questions, phone contacts, and fax messages regarding hospitalizations

Call patients who are AWOL two days, scheduling a counseling appointment as appropriate

Escort patients to and from waiting room; take vital signs, pulse and blood pressure, blood draws and record in EMR as directed

Review and complete required information on forms (i.e. Releases of Information) with patient

Assists M.D/D.O./P.A./N.P. as needed.

Follow appropriate scheduling of patients (i.e. time allocation and efficient scheduling), including lab tests

Inform medical provider of patient flow issues during clinic hours

Request and obtain needed medical records and scan into EMR

Print and fax required collateral letters (i.e. Pregnancy)

Chart audits for insurance, medical or patient care QA

Fax and track dual enrollment forms

Inventory, order and stock supplies as needed.

Attend weekly staff meetings and in-service trainings

Requirements:
Medical Assistant Certification is required.
Excellent written and verbal skills required.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel and EMR entries.
Ability to establish a positive rapport with patients.
Possess CPR certification and phlebotomy experience.
Must demonstrate a non-judgmental and accepting attitude toward the Substance Use Disorder population.
Be able to work the hours 5:00am to 1:30pm
