Accounting Director
Reporting directly to the  Corporate Controller, and the SR. Director of Accounting for BayMark Health Services, Inc. is responsible for accounting and compliance functions for the company. The overall function is to provide quality control and improvement of internal controls surrounding financial reporting.
Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee financial reporting and report distribution function
  • Work with FP&A to improve BayMark Health Services’ overall financial reporting framework
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external audit teams
  • Ensure that proper support is maintained and readily available to auditors for timely and accurate review
  • Ensure that the AR Bad Debt Allowance Reconciliation and True Up process is completed timely
  • Ensure that A/R reconciles to the A/R Sub ledger
  • Review bad debt write offs to assure adherence to policy
  • Work with RCM team to post cash properly within the G/L (Clinic Location)
  • Reduce amount of unapplied cash
  • Accounting Lead for the ERP Implementation
  • Oversee Accounting Manager and Financial Compliance Accountant to ensure efficiency and accuracy of daily accounting activities and financial and cost reporting
  • Resolves complex accounting issues or assists in resolving financial issues
  • Evaluate the general ledger team to ensure accuracy of the general ledger, financial statements and other reports
  • Direct the activities of the department in the process of reviewing/approving/posting of monthly journal entries such as prepaid expenses, accruals, amortizations, depreciation, note interest, revenue and revenue reserve
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Ensure proper balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support integration of acquisitions into the accounting processes
  • Support clinics by responding promptly and accurately to financial inquiries
  • Support the annual budget process through interface with Financial Planning & Analysis staff
  • Provide leadership for the annual financial audit process and special audits during the year
  • Review and monitor compliance with government contracts and grants
  • Verify the implementation of department wide SOP’s and desktop instructions
  • Document and Monitor internal controls and propose improvements where necessary
  • Ensure proper financial reporting in compliance with GAAP
  • Oversee the tax (sales and use, business, property, franchise, etc.) compliance process
  • Comply with BayMark policies and procedures, Compliance Policy and Code of Ethics
  • Conduct special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibility
The accounting director manages employees of the accounting department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required, Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study
  • Required, Seven (7) years of related work experience
  • Preferred: Five (5) years of related public accounting experience in audit
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including, Word and Excel
  • Experience working with Great Plains is a plus
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and possess strong analytical and organizational skills in managing multiple projects
  • Must be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment in which attention to detail and audit-trail documentation must be maintained in the face of multiple competing demands for your time
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision
  • Ability to effectively direct and supervise
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
  • Professional designation of CPA preferred
  • Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices
  • Initiative to take charge of unforeseen situations, solve problems and adjust to schedule changes
  • Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers
  • Satisfactory criminal background check
