Reporting to the VP, Global Sales Operations, the Director of Sales Compensation will be responsible for the design of the Sales Incentive Plan and its ongoing administration throughout the fiscal year.
This role will focus on the design of the compensation strategy for all quota-carrying roles within Barracuda, direct and overlays, across all routes to market, with the goal of incentivizing high-performing sales teams, attracting and retaining top talent, and driving revenue and customer growth. The ideal candidate will work with the sales leadership team and cross-functionally with Finance and Human Resources to design a world class compensation plan to drive the achievement of Barracuda’s corporate objectives and targets. The individual will also work closely with the Commissions team to calculate and administer incentive pay across the globe.
What you will be working on:
  • Use a data-driven approach to develop a sales compensation strategy that is simple to understand, transparent, and uniquely addresses each territory type across routes-to-market and geography
  • Manage semi-annual sales compensation planning program with regular steering committee meetings to gain senior leadership feedback and alignment
  • Benchmark competitive practices to ensure sales plans drive results and help attract and retain top sales talent
  • Create and deliver plan communications and enablement in a way that builds trust and excitement
  • Collaborate with finance, HR, and others to transform and optimize the design, governance, and administration of sales compensation plans
  • Monitor and analyze all aspects of the sales compensation programs to gauge the effectiveness of the plan designs and devise periodic SPIFFS that may be implemented
  • Track payout performance of plans and provide forecasts of expected payouts
  • Oversee administration of sales compensation plans and plan exception requests
  • Collaborate with the sales commissions team and ensure compliance with payroll deadlines and with local regulatory environments
What you will bring to the role:
  • 8+ years of experience with Sales Compensation in a SaaS environment
  • Experience with SaaS, on-prem subscription, Hardware, and Hybrid sales compensation plans
  • Experience with sales teams geared to different customer segments and routes-to-market
  • Strong abstract thinker able to apply complex concepts across a variety of situations
  • Advanced analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to develop scenario analysis and identify trends and levers in attainment data
  • Proved track record creating solid cross-functional partnerships across Finance, Sales, Legal, Business Systems/IT, and other Operations teams
  • Experience working with remote sales and business partner teams
  • Experience with Xactly platform
  • Experience developing teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate information across teams, roles, and levels
  • Ability to lead without authority
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master preferred)

California Only. The anticipated on-target earnings range for this role is $200,000 - $217,000.  Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, the budget for the position, and applicable employment laws.
