Tax Research Analyst

Job Summary

The Tax Research Analyst – India GST will research and monitor GST updates. The Analyst should be able to analyze and interpret critical aspects of GST law. The Analyst should follow the process and deadlines, model data to integrate those laws into the Avalara products. The  Analyst will be responsible for dealing with technical inquiries relating to GST and assisting in the implementation of recommendations to Avalara tools.

Although not required daily, the candidate must be flexible to overlap work timings with US/UK timings, as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Extensive research on various critical aspects of GST Laws
  • Carry out web and subscription service research to and be active with all the latest tax news
  • Research technical issues
  • Carrying out comprehensive GST incidence reviews
  • Assist in the implementation of recommendations and data modeling of content to be consumed in Avalara tool
  • Address all the India GST customer Queries
  • Benchmarking against industry preferred practice to identify new ways of helping to reduce GST incidence
  • Assisting with the developing lesser experienced staff with hands-on advice and support
  • Steer projects including quality reviews of deliverables
  • Participate in committee activities and provide input where applicable
  • Open to accept additional responsibilities assigned to meet deadlines
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Must be flexible to overlap work schedule with US timing, as needed for collaborative meetings or training (5-hour time difference vs. US EST)
  • Solid organization and self-pacing skills

  • CA/ B. Com/ LLB / MBA
  • 1-3 years professional work experience
  • Strong analytical ability and eye for detail

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to discuss basic technical issues, ask appropriate questions and gather relevant information from the client 
  • Ability to follow a process consistently while identifying and communicating efficiencies
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Prior exposure and/or understanding of India GST legislation is preferred
