Inside Sales Application Specialist

Point of contact for Autocar distributors, Autocar outside sales team and perspective customers with regards to option pricing, availability, order changes, build status, and coordination of customer supplied components.  This position requires a detailed orientated person with excellent communication skills, a technical aptitude to work with engineers on new options and updating the Autocar sales configurator.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.


The Inside Sales Application Specialist is responsible for the following:

  • Field calls and emails form our outside sales team and Autocar distributors
  • Communicate vehicle pricing and option availability on the order configurator by way of quotes
  • Review new option request with engineering and management for approval and compatibility
  • Process and confirm new orders into the Autocar New Build Process
  • Communicate build timing and changes
  • Work with engineering team on setting up new customer option codes into sales configurator
  • Update and release revisions to the sales configurator periodically throughout the year
  • Work with outside sales team on coordinating customer visits
  • Track order changes, submit for management approval and advise sales of disposition
  • Track customer supplied components to ensure they are onsite for build

Education and/or Experience                  

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A or B.S.) from a four-year College or University; or two years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General truck application knowledge or Technical truck engineering/assembly background is a plus
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Detail orientated, self-motivated
  • Computer literate and possess the ability to learn new systems
  • Understanding or experience with Autocar systems (QAD, ADNET, Team Center, and SharePoint) is a plus
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization


Language Skills                  

Ability to read and interpret customer sales request, engineering option rules and communicate effectively.


Mathematical Skills                  

Ability to comprehend basic math used in the option/vehicle quoting process.


Reasoning Ability                 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills                  

 Working knowledge of:

  • MS Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
