Position at Ashoka

Your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with creative team members to develop concepts while balancing strategic development with internal departments and worldwide offices
  • Formulating innovative concepts that support Ashoka’s brand, marketing, product and web development, and social media goals
  • Managing and designing projects from initial concept through completion
  • Establishing directions and design solutions; ensuring implementation of directions from concept through production
  • Collaborating with the creative director to develop creative concepts and layouts for print and digital assets while ensuring the work aligns with the overall creative direction
  • Collaborating with the account manager to ensure all correspondence, materials, presentations, and proposals seen by prospective and existing clients are error-free and of the highest quality
  • Building and maintain relationships with the account team, clients, partner agencies, photographers, production companies, and other vendors
  • Adapting to changes in format, media, design, and advertising strategies as priorities shift
  • Designing across a variety of project types, including digital/traditional/trans-media advertising and interactive design with an emphasis on branding and identity design
  • Partnering effectively with all departments to ensure delivery of on-time, high-quality deliverables that address all relevant client and agency requirements
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to junior & intermediate team members

Experience, skills, and requirements:

  • 4-6 years of proven work experience as a Senior Designer, Graphic Designer, or similar role in an in-house or agency environment
  • B.A. in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of the brand development process
  • Proven ability to think conceptually and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with colleagues across time zones
  • Experience using Adobe Suite and major UI & UX applications like Figma
  • Understanding of UX/UI design
  • Strong portfolio showcasing print, digital, and web pieces
  • Keen time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects with ease
  • Proficiency in Canva
  • Must have a thorough understanding of and be well-versed in technical and production skills, including Adobe Suite
  • Understand and effectively communicate and implement creative concepts, the client’s creative and business philosophy, methodology, and capabilities
  • Outstanding aesthetic sensibilities and a solid understanding of storytelling, layout, typography, and design principles
  • Maintain and evolve our brand culture
  • Has uncompromising attention-to-detail
  • Must reside in Washington D.C.
