What we’re looking for

Argus seeks a driven, enthusiastic and hard-working editor to lead its Argus Mexico Fuel Markets publication. The position requires fluency in English and Spanish.

The liberalization of the Mexico fuels market over the last decade has taken a series of twists and turns. Suppliers of refined products and LPG continue to target the large Mexican market even as the political landscape has shifted back toward nationalization and self-reliance. Argus Mexico Fuel Markets has charted the story throughout — with daily news, insightful and timely analysis and a raft of data — all while providing valuable pricing information on the imported fuels that the country still relies heavily upon. The ideal candidate for the role is an adept writer and editor with an interest in energy, politics, economics and logistics and their intersection, with an ability to synthesize complex and sometimes disparate information to create a solid, comprehensive story line.

The successful candidate will work closely with editors, reporters and stringers in Mexico, Houston and elsewhere as well as with other editorial teams and management, Data and Production teams, business development, sales and marketing, consulting and conferences.

What will you be doing?

  • Daily editing and production of Argus Mexico Fuel Markets, maintaining written excellence and doing occasional reporting and writing front-page leaders as needed.
  • Maintain quality of price assessments and adhere to rigorous compliance standards.
  • Oversee quality and relevance of methodology for related market(s).
  • Help direct, write and edit news, analysis and market commentaries. This editor likely will be expected to be available to edit other Argus news, including material not related to the publication.
  • Work with Argus Editorial teams in Mexico, Houston and other locations to ensure seamless and high-quality market coverage.
  • Contribute to presentations as directed by management; give presentations to clients and at industry events.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, history or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated reporting, writing and goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong diplomatic, analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • A basic understanding of markets: Experience covering physical commodity markets is a plus.
  • A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with particular experience in Excel.
