What will you be doing?
 

Argus' liquid fuel subscription services encompass a variety of fuels and commodities, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, renewable fuels, asphalt, marine fuel oil, and environmental credits. 

Argus' business development managers are responsible for raising stakeholders' usage of Argus indexes, both internally within their organizations, and externally in contracts with counterparties. 

 

 

Skills and Experience

 

  • Operate within Argus' matrix organization, occupying a central role between leadership, editorial, and sales.
  • Act as main liaison to pricing staff, junior oil product traders, and analysts at major oil companies.
  • Maintain a direct line of communication to Argus editorial staff, represent external stakeholders to this group, and promoting the launch of new indexes as required
  • Identify challenges, changes, and opportunities in East of Rockies petroleum products markets, escalating these within the Argus organization as appropriate.
  • Develop and execute annual strategic plan to maintain and grow usage of Argus' petroleum product indexes.
  • Collaborate with editorial staff to develop new indexes and change existing indexes, in consultation with traders and index users
  • Collaborate with marketing staff and other bd managers to develop and enhance messaging around Argus' petroleum product indexes.
  • This is a high-profile position within the Argus organization, offering exposure to regional and global leadership. 

 

 

What we’re looking for in you:

 

  • Full time Houston resident
  • 7-12 years’ experience in petroleum product markets, ideally within pricing, risk, or analysis
  • a broad network of contacts within the Houston refined products trading community
  • Keen interest in commodity markets, the ambition to be great at what they do, and a desire to grow within the organization.
  • Good mental arithmetic and mathematical instincts
  • A listener, capable of hearing and understanding the positions of the various parties to a given discussion, both internal and external.
  • Maturity and organizational skills to manage internal stakeholders in a productive & efficient manner.
  • Comfortable with a varied workload, and the likely need to pivot within an agreed role & strategy as market conditions evolve.
  • A clear communicator over email, over video chat, and in person.
  • The ability to stick to a plan that has been agreed with company leadership, ignoring the attraction of your comfort zone or the demands of other departments within Argus.
