Position Summary:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a key member of our HR team and is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units.  This position will primarily support the Waltham office and remote based employees.

The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion within a fast-growing company. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The position may include some international human resource responsibilities. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides day-to-day guidance and is the initial point of contact to management and employees in the areas of performance management, training and development, policy and procedure interpretation, career development, resource planning, and employee discipline
  • Helps drive a positive employee culture within a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment
  • Promote and foster a healthy work environment; raise awareness of available programs to assist employees; implement appropriate employee engagement programs
  • Engage designated managers and leaders to understand talent needs of the business and help define people strategies
  • Helps develop and implement company-wide and location-specific HR initiatives
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed
  • Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviewing
  • Assists with recruitment activities as needed for designated business units
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of Human Resources
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Registration & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree and relevant industry experience


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HR generalist or business partner role
  • Previous experience in high growth environment
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and multi-state respective employment laws
  • Prior experience in the Bio-tech industry is strongly preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Some travel will be required (anticipated to be less than 25%).
