Our Procurement team is expanding!  and we have a need for an experienced Buyer to provide extraordinary service to our internal customers through the placement and monitoring of orders and the management of our Supplier Registration database.  

The individual will support purchasing of equipment, raw materials and consumables for various departments. Responsibilities also include responding to post-order customer service requests relating to the ordering process and system.    Will work with managers to support each department’s needs and maintain various reports and scorecards for transactional purchasing activities.   Position also include project management support for the implementation of Supplier Registration and e-Sourcing System.  Position requires schedule adherence and excellent prioritizing skill. This is a full-time role and will require working on-site. This Buyer must also have a strong customer service mindset.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  •  Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all suppliers and internal relationships;
  • Manage supplier on boarding and registration, collaborating with relevant approvers;
  • Support the project management of system implementations, including tracking activities, internal communication and training for users;
  • Keeps monitoring of current market trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes, which would affect products, procedures, and/or supply. Inform leadership of all options that are available to assist with maintaining or improving established costs/supply; 
  • Anticipate potential risks regarding material availability, identify actual challenges, and take proactive steps to achieve resolution while informing appropriate personnel; 
  • Develop / present ideas to reduce and/or consolidate costs, improve operational efficiency, add value and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement; 
  • Maintain constant focus on quality and drive continuous improvement within the procurement process and supply base; 
  • Analyze and resolve customer concerns using established procedures;
  • Analyze proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices;
  • Assist customers with buying decisions: researches product, cross-reference, pricing & availability;
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service support, reliability etc.
  • Other duties are required.


Education, Registration & Certification:

  • High School education required; college degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 (+) years of procurement experience preferably in biotech or medical field;
  • GMP experience is a plus.

  • A great listener, with concise and effective communication skills;
  • Excellent product and process knowledge for a specific market;
  • Solid understanding of computer basics (Microsoft Suite), knowledge and working experience with Net Suite, SAP, or other similar purchasing systems is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
