Our Finance and Accounting teams are growing rapidly and we're seeking an experienced Manager, AP to join us.

The Manager, Accounts Payable is a key member of our finance team and is responsible for supervising, monitoring and evaluating all day-to-day accounts payable operations and collaborate with the accounting team on assigned activities. This position ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervise the daily AP functions performed by the AP Specialist and act as his or her backup as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of the vendor master in the accounting/ERP system.
  • Ensure Form-1099s are prepared accurately and filed timely.
  • Responsible for the timely preparation sales and use tax returns and assist with sales & use tax audits as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice posting and cut-off review at the end of the month.
  • Reconcile AP subledger to the corresponding general ledger account to ensure that approved invoices are timely and accurately captured in the appropriate accounting period.
  • Establish and maintain the Company’s AP policies and standard operating procedures as the organization grows.
  • Establish, maintain and communicate AP KPI to the rest of the Finance team.
  • Work with FP&A on compiling supplementary information for vendor/budget reconciliation questions.
  • Provide accounting support to the accounting team as needed, often on short notice.
  • Assist with AP related SOX controls or other SOX responsibilities as assigned.
  • Champion AP process improvements to ensure that the best AP practices and technologies in line with the overall goals of the organization are evaluated and brought to management’s attention timely.
  • Collaborate with Procurement in the maintenance of the purchase order process.
  • Participate in ERP implementation relating to the AP function and the overall P2P processes.
  • Provide training, guidance, and direction to the AP Specialist to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely, and knowledgeable manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education, Registration & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on AP managerial experience and 6 years of overall AP experience
  • Prior ERP implementation experience required
  • Prior experience with a public life-science company and SOX controls preferred
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite preferred
  • Detail oriented with the flexibility to meet reporting requests on short notice

  • Proficient with Excel and MS Office Suite in general
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle between competing demands for limited resources.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
