Aparium Hotel Group is looking for several Server Assistants and Barbacks to provide excellent guest service at Hotel Covington.

The Hotel Covington embodies the transformation of a celebrated, century-old downtown building into a modern luxury hotel. As the first of its genre in the market, The Hotel Covington will appeal to business and leisure travelers accustomed to upscale hotels in primary markets seeking an authentic and locally influenced experience. The hotel draws inspiration from the local culture and cultivates a following through a sense of civic pride and exciting food & beverage.

The Hotel Covington will pull inspiration from its northern and southern sisters, but a cohesive mix of styles will ultimately lend individuality. A story will be told through regional and local sourcing, and will become the pulse of Covington and beyond: unique yet comfortable, casual yet refined, and timeless yet evolving. By reimagining the historically designated Coppin building, which served as home to City Hall and state offices, into a 114-room hotel, this significant project is certain to become the springboard for development in Covington’s downtown business district and will deliver urban renewal South of the riverfront developments.

Do you love providing a welcoming and inviting experience for guests?  Our Food and Beverage Server Assistants provide top-notch service to guests in our award winning food and beverage outlets.  A passion for food and fun are a must!   


  • Open availability for nights, weekends and holidays
  • Clean, set and re-set tables continuously, assuming responsibility for station, tables and side duties
  • Serve and clear food and beverage items in an unobtrusive and professional manner
  • Serve water, bread and coffee and greet guests by name whenever possible during the course of meal service
  • Present menus and explanations for all menu items as well as specials of the day
  • Perform set up duties as requested to include side stations, storage areas and food staging area
  • Answer telephone promptly and properly being polite, courteous and friendly
  • Be familiar with the menus, including preparation, ingredients and description
  • Follow the established procedures to ensure knowledgeable, correct and efficient order taking
  • Complete opening and closing side work as assigned and have all tables set according to standard
  • Utilize the hotel’s computer system ringing up sales, printing checks, closing checks and completing closing readings
  • Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, china, glass and silver
  • Stock linen, china, silver and glassware for service
  • Install buffets and brunch tables as well as set-up of food items and displays
  • All other responsibilities assigned by management


  • Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language
  • Must have a high school education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of food and beverage experience
  • Able to work well unsupervised
  • Computer skills helpful but not required


  • Standard restaurant, kitchen, banquet, room service setting



  • Continuous standing and walking
  • Negotiating wet tile floor and steps
  • Fine motor coordination is needed to pour beverages, decorate cocktails and folding napkins


  • Trays weigh 30lb.
  • Carts: 250 lbs. (12-20 lbs. of push/pull force required)
  • Hot box: 20 lbs.
  • Banquet tables & chairs


  • Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time
  • Lifting and carrying 30 lb. tray, crate or box is occasional
  • Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous
  • Carrying over shoulder is occasional
  • Hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, silver, setting up tables, shacking, pouring and mixing drinks
  • Pushing Room Service cart continuous
  • Lifting and carry hot boxes continuous
  • Rolling and/or carry Banquet tables continuous
  • Carrying stackable banquet chairs by loading the cart continuous


  • Excellent sight and balance needed for negotiating varied floor surfaces
  • Handling lighted candles, and handling hot fluids (coffee and tea)
  • Excellent speech and hearing to interact with guests
  • Excellent sight for completion of paper work
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 degrees F) and kitchens (+110 degrees F), possible for one hour or more
