Do you want to be part of the exciting revitalization of Detroit?  The soon to be open Detroit Foundation Hotel is looking for a Purchasing Clerk to join the pre-opening team!

Detroit Foundation Hotel is at the forefront of the renewal of the Motor City. A transformation of the former Detroit Fire Department Headquarters and adjacent Pontchartrain Wine Cellar building, The Foundation will be the top hotel in the market with authentic inspiration, design, and programming that respects Detroit’s past, yet is looking forward through its revival.

The food and beverage programming will include a three-meal restaurant and bar with approximately 200 covers positioned to be among the top restaurants in the region. The hotel’s restaurant will present iconic New American cuisine, and with space that will serve as an incubator for culinary students, up and coming chefs and visiting culinary influencers. The elevated bar program will focus on collaboration with Michigan breweries and distillers.

The hotel will feature approximately 4500 square feet of meeting space, including a rooftop ballroom and a unique podcast studio. The 100-room hotel is scheduled to open Spring 2017.  

In addition, the Purchasing Clerk will be involved in the pre-opening process of setting up the department for success along with all other responsibilities assigned by management such as cross training and collaborating with other departments as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Ensure that all non-food and beverage deliveries are correct
  • Maintain and update the procurement system and generate all necessary status reports
  • Inspect the physical condition and count or measures the quality and weight of all items or supplies
  • Ensure all deliveries are received at the designated receiving area.
  • Ensure all invoices, credit memos and packing slips are correctly processed
  • Inform the Manager/Controller in the event of any returns, shortages, or no show deliveries immediately
  • Inspect food quality at receiving and communicate issues
  • Assist as necessary with all month end or quarterly inventories of food, beverage, operating equipment and supplies
  • Work together with other Hotel staff to assure smooth transition of receiving to final destination
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned
  • Ensure cleanliness of the loading bay area
  • The ability to follow proper payroll procedures
  • Detail orientated
  • Demonstrates high degree of drive and determination
  • Works cooperatively with other people in order to achieve a common goal
