Aparium Hotel Group is looking for a Corporate Director of Training & Development to join our corporate team in Chicago.

Aparium Hotel Group is an owner, developer, and operator of high-quality independent hotels across the United States. The company was founded in 2011 by the former developers of the Elysian Hotel Chicago and their operating partners.

 We currently operate and/or own hotels in Milwaukee, WI (Iron Horse Hotel), La Crosse, WI (Charmant Hotel), Covington, KY (Hotel Covington), New Orleans, LA (Pontchartrain Hotel), Memphis, TN (Madison Hotel), Omaha, NE (Hotel Deco XV), and Minneapolis (Hewing Hotel).  We have several hotels under development with locations in Detroit, Michigan; Kansas City, Missouri; Montclair, New Jersey: Des Moines, Iowa Tampa, Florida and Tempe, Arizona. Our pipeline for potential hotels continues to grow and expand in to underserved cities across the country.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Director of Training ensures training and development initiatives are in place in alignment with Aparium culture and values.   Design, execute and oversee training & development programs within the company tailored to the brand and company needs.

 

Job Description:

LEADERSHIP

  • Maintain training programs current and in line within Aparium culture and values.
  • Design & implement training programs that support operation and development needs for all levels of the organization.
  • Establish training curriculum for the entire company.
  • Coach and develop property teams to properly maintain training programs.
  • Out of the box thinking that supports hotel operations and its specific needs.
  • Provide clear goals and expectations to hotel teams that drive accountability and operational excellence.
  • Instill the core pillars of Aparium through the training and development curriculum.

 

FINANCIAL

  • Manage training programs within the budgetary guidelines for the company and for each property.
  • Ensure training programs maximize resources, support operations and minimize cost.

 

OPENINGS

  • Personally handle on-boarding of all General Managers
  • Supervise/execute training for each new property
  • Support hiring and on boarding of General Managers & HR teams for opening and existing properties.
  • Ensure proper on boarding of the entire staff within the guidelines for each hotel.
  • Collaborate with HRD/HRM for proper implementation of critical path.

 

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  • Maintain training curriculum current and relevant.
  • Streamline on boarding process for all General Managers and Executive Teams for all hotels.
  • Manage on boarding and training for all staff in opening properties.
  • Design, implement and supervise training programs as appropriate to support operation needs as well as compliance required training.
    • Ability y to observe colleagues in the work place, analyze operation and detect issues of concern with regard to areas such as associate performance, grooming, training, policy adherence and morale.
    • Plan, implement, coordinate and/or present corporate and location specific training programs in accordance with AGH culture and needs.
    • Review guest comments, trip advisor and associate surveys to identify potential areas of opportunity for training and development.
    • Review hotel training and update as necessary. Analyze current training needs for the hotel and residential departments and individuals and make recommendations, develop training plan with Department Managers and implement plan as needed. Assess plans success. Develops or researches training for specific hotel & residential needs.
    • Oversee and monitor all departmental training programs, i.e., Alcohol Awareness, Food Safety etc. by conducting audits and making recommendations for compliance. Monitor educational assistance program.
    • Develop monthly and annual training calendar and quarterly assessment reports.
    • Compile monthly and quarterly reports of training activity.
    • Coordinate additional associate and human resources activities, as required.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

Education:

  • Degree and/or applicable industry expertise

Experience:

  • Five years of education/training experience.
  • Experience in a hospitality environment is strongly preferred.
  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language required
  • Excellent presentation skills, public speaking
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
