Reporting to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Associate Director of Admissions is a key member of the leadership and operations teams in the Office of Admissions. This position is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the admissions operations functions, which includes: Freshman Admissions, Transfer Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Imaging Center, and Admissions Service Windows. This position will assist the director with general management of admissions projects and work alongside the director to ensure students, parents and counselors receive a first-class experience as they navigate the admissions process. The Associate Director of Admissions will also collaborate with the Assistant Director of Recruitment on admissions related projects, events and activities.


What Are the Details?


Main Duties Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and manage admissions leads and their team members in the daily admissions operations.
  • Develop, plan and manage the admissions operations; implement CSU admissions policy and ensure that the campus is in compliance with admission standards and policies established by the CSU Board of Trustees and contained in statues of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.
  • Work closely with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and the CSU Chancellor’s Office in implementation of Executive Orders and other policy changes affecting admissions processing.
  • Work closely with the admissions system analysts to coordinate the processing of applications submitted via the web, test loads and other electronic interfaces.
  • Assist the Director of Admissions and Recruitment with the design, assessment and adjustment of admissions processes.
  • Work closely with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and the CSU Chancellor’s Office in implementation of Executive Orders and other policy changes affecting admissions processing.
  • Participate in strategic planning to ensure that fiscal, human, and management information systems adapt to dynamically changing environment and achieve enrollment management goals.
  • Participate in program and policy analysis and evaluation, development of methods and operations, and evaluation of work procedures, assess human resource skills needed and address staff development needs.
  • Assist with and lead the training activities of admissions staff and for representatives of programs and offices that perform outreach activities.
  • Develop streamlined data analytics on admissions trends to assist the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Managements with decision making.
  • Analyze business processes/system and recommend data enhancements to the Information Technology Team that manages the PeopleSoft Student Administration System.
  • Work closely with academic departments and student support programs to address needs of programs serving special populations.
  • Other duties as assigned or approved by the director


What Will Make You Successful?

  • A Master’s degree required from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Five years of recent and progressively responsible experience with admissions/recruiting, administrative, and/or higher education.
  • Experience developing and implementing recruiting and/or admission strategies and practices that result in quantifiable and measurable enrollment outcomes.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective leadership, motivation and performance evaluation; Ability to facilitate group participation, consensus building and foster employee development through coaching, counseling, and training.
  • Strong management, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to manage operations in a complex administrative environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance in the interpretation, promotion, and dissemination of policies and procedures pertaining to admission, records management, and degree evaluations.
  • Thorough understanding of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations and Education Code, Chancellor’s Office, General Education policies, campus, and department requirements and policies pertaining to academic records.
  • Ability to be concise and clear in written communications and oral presentations given on and off campus.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and abide with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the confidentiality of records.
  • Effectively manage organizational change and develop a cohesive team environment.
