Position Summary:

Lathams, an Ainsworth Company, is currently seeking an Estimator/Project Manager, to join our growing team in Downtown Vancouver. Reporting directly to the Contracts Division Manager, the role will be responsible for estimating and commercial renovations and retrofits by independently and accurately pricing jobs from start to finish. 

Responsibilities

  • Review prints and project specifications for estimating purposes
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings for estimating and pricing
  • Assemble detailed and accurate quality take-offs and cost estimates
  • Develop project material budgeting by gathering costs for the various items needed to complete the project
  • Obtaining equipment and sub contractor pricing
  • Preparing final estimate for review
  • Visiting job sites for estimating purposes and reviews of estimates on actual jobs
  • Ordering equipment and specialty material at the start of the job
  • Issuing contracts/PO’s to the sub contractors
  • Preparing change orders, following up on them and processing them once accepted
  • Ability to do several smaller jobs at the same time
  • Prepare estimating data for new systems and allowances

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction/engineering degree, or an appropriate field. A combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • 2+ years of experience in estimating
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and mechanical drawings.
