Position Summary

The DDC Service Technician will work within occupied buildings on behalf of our customers. The technician will be responsible for various DDC preventative maintenance tasks, programming & graphic changes, possible HVAC equipment startups, and commissioning and troubleshooting of DDC Systems with minimal supervision. This position requires flexibility to work overtime as the business needs (on call). 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Understand and have knowledge of building mechanical/electrical/control systems and equipment, typical DDC controls systems and devices
  • Effective and timely communication at the highest possible level
  • Total customer satisfaction, internal and external
  • Perform site-specific training for owner/operator
  • Professional and expedient conflict resolution
  • Perform system startups, and network connections, create and modify graphics interfaces as required
  • Point-to-point functional testing of equipment/systems
  • Documenting and record-keeping of one’s work
  • Coordinates and communicates with clients and dispatchers.
  • Adherence to schedules and deadlines
  • Attention to safety protocols
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment

Qualifications: 

  • High School or GED required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school with a certificate in Instrumentation, Automation, HVAC, AAS, BAS preferred, or
  • Certified Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson for min 1 year with computer skills
  • Proficient with: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code. FSR-B is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Wireshark and Network Captures
  • BCEM (Building Certified Energy Manager)
  • SEMAC (Sustainable Energy Management Advanced Certificate) 
  • Strong written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Resourceful, problem-solver that is energetic and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and hold a clean driving record
  • Willing to work after hours and on an on-call rotational basis
  • Problem-solving solid abilities (electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving, networking)
  • Knowledge of programming, access, and surveillance systems, fire alarm, and network topology
  • Focused and detail orientated
  • Team player that functions well in a busy environment
  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively

 The gross hourly range is $30 - $55. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the range for this position. Actual rates will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.
