Summary:
 

We have an opening for a full-time, Building Automation Controls Technician II at our Philadelphia branch office. The Technician II is responsible for the overall startup, testing/commissioning, documenting of construction projects and to facilitate the timely turnover to the client and the service team. The Technician II will report directly to a team project manager and work closely with the design engineer to ensure they have the tools necessary to be successful on each project. The Technician II will work professionally with both internal and external clients and will have the ability to be a leader within the company. 

Responsibilities:   

  • Startup and testing of building automation systems.
  • Working directly with clients and subcontractors to facilitate the installation of designed control systems.
  • Develops a systematic planning for complete startup of systems and turnover to service team. Responsible for complete documentation of startup process for the system.
  • Responsible to communicate with the project manager and client to assist in the effective completion of the project.
  • Takes initiative to find solutions  
  • Motivates others to perform better  
  • Offers and implements ideas for greater efficiency  
  • Provides client training on systems  
  • Coordinate the punch-out of front-end system  
  • Interfaces with Electrician on coordination items  
  • Drives project schedule for efficient completion  
  • Documentation of tested points / and wiring runs
  • Startup/Testing of terminal unit and air handling unit controllers as well as central plant controllers (HW Systems, CHW Systems, and CW Systems)  
  • Communicate directives to electrical subcontractors for proper installation of our control components
  • Interface with 3rd party manufacturer controls  
  • Read wiring diagrams to determine proper terminations to mechanical equipment
  • Terminate and trouble shoot wiring and system components
  • Creation of software points in the controllers  
  • Testing of automatic programming sequence
  • Maintains weekly reports on project progress and open items
  • Demonstrate front-end graphics and operability to clients and commissioning agents
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards

Requirements: 

We are looking for a candidate who has previous technician experience within the controls industry. Preference towards Delta Controls systems.   

  • Depth of knowledge in mechanical systems and sequences of operations  
  • Reading and understand mechanical design documents (duct layouts, piping schematics, riser diagrams)  
  • Reading Manufacturer's wire diagrams  
  • Experienced abilities in problem solving and troubleshooting  
  • Familiarity with interfacing to third party devices  
  • Seeks high level of quality in their work  
  • Ability to work independent or part of a team  
  • Demonstrates Leadership among peers  
  • Presents a positive image for the company  
  • Seeks to exceed client expectations (internal and external)  
  • Required experience: 2-4+ years of experience as a DDC Technician  
  • Required education: High School or GED required. Associates degree in HVAC or Control Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
