Position Summary:  

The Project Engineer Intern will be under direct supervision, this position supports the completion of assigned complex or long-term projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.  Supporting planning, estimating, and design activities for the layout of equipment, and commercial and industrial facilities. Assists in determining the scope of projects, estimates cost, designs, and documents HVAC and Electrical systems, and procures components.  Works directly on the project team to assist the Project Manager with project commissioning.   

 Key Responsibilities: 

·        Recommends methods to ensure the maximum utilization of facilities and project resources.   

·        Generates O & M Manuals  

·        Responsible for general design and analysis activities involving airside, waterside, and refrigerant systems in the comfort control industry. 

·        Applies general knowledge of engineering principles and practices.  

·        Responsible for review of contract documents, preparation of site drawings, design and layout of ductwork, water and refrigerant piping, equipment and electrical requirements, specifications, job surveys, job cost estimates, detailed installation drawings, supervision of sub-contractors and field startup, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of systems.   

·        Submits accurate and timely reports including adequate description of work performed.      

·        Orders required equipment and outside purchases. 

·        Assists BAS engineers as required with programming, terminations, checks, graphic development, tests, and startup. 

·        Provides technical support to the technicians, when needed. 

·        Serves customers by answering inquiries and responding to special requests. 

·        Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with staff, as needed, providing customer feedback. 

·        Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required. 

·        Regular travel requirements. 

Qualifications:  

·        In progress towards a college degree or associates degree. 

·        General knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods. 

·        Ability to perform mathematical calculations.  

·        Competency in, and effective use of, computer systems to perform job responsibilities, 

·        Ability to read and understand contracts, specifications, and architectural and engineering drawings and models.  

·        Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively.
