Reporting directly to the Director of Supply Chain, the Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for building relationships with suppliers, negotiating cost, and developing agreements to support company growth and profitability objectives. The Sourcing Specialist will work closely with R&D to ensure new products are launched, meeting cost and time targets.  This role will focus on maximizing supplier performance and value delivery with a focus on continual improvement of the sourcing process. The position also will work closely with all company departments to identify strategic sourcing opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Identifies and selects suppliers that excel in value, quality, delivery and technology
  • Supports new product development by acting as an interface between Engineering and Suppliers
  • Investigates alternate designs and manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve quality; integrates these changes into early design phases and ongoing production
  • Conduct evaluations of supplier performance and manages corrective action activities
  • Drives continuous supplier improvements in areas such as lead time, on time delivery, cost and quality
  • Negotiates agreements with suppliers to obtain best value proposition for the Company
Note: Some travel up to 25% may be required

Job Knowledge/Work Experience

  • Global sourcing experience in sheet metal, PCBAs, electronics assemblies, and/or custom plastic parts
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications
  • Experience developing, issuing and managing RFx activities
  • Experience performing technical and economic evaluation and using these evaluations as a basis for negotiation strategies and sourcing recommendations
  • Experience with commercial terms, contracts, and standard procurement practices
  • Experience with supplier scorecards and corrective action plans
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to interface with internal groups or teams at multiple organizational levels
  • Possesses a positive “get-it-done” attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team in a demanding growth environment.

Education/Minimum Years of Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain Management is preferred or an equivalent of 5 years of experience in Procurement/Strategic Sourcing/Buying in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement or Purchasing or other supplier facing role supporting manufacturing or other technical environment is a must

Computer/Technical Skills

  • Well versed in advanced Excel functions including pivot tables, charting, data manipulation and analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Work experience in a multi-module ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, or MS Dynamics
  • Experience using model viewer package such as eDrawings, A360 or Solid Edge
