Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Dock Coordinator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight into and off of trucks and trailers.

Key responsibilities & duties

  • Must be able to follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures to insure proper techniques, such as lifting, are performed in the manner as which is described.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by cleaning and removing debris from work area; place dunnage and empty pallets in proper location; keep aisles clear and observe forklift safety regulations.
  • Daily use of ERP system via hand held scanner.
  • Check SOPs for outbound trailers prior to loading to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Prep cross country shipments to ensure they are safe and secure and in accordance to customer requirements
  • Responsible for correcting any notification errors in a timely manner
  • Prepare, inspect, and clean trailer(s) before loading freight.
  • Follow company procedures for properly and safely loading and unloading freight. Safely operate a forklift to load and unload freight.
  • Driving and delivery of product safely and on time
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Perform duties in a manner that promotes superior customer service and professionalism within the Company and the industry

Education/Minimum Years of Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse or transportation industry preferred

Work experience and skills

  • Must be able to work with little supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record is required
  • Experience operating a forklift is required
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance a plus
  • Experience with Inventory Control a plus
  • Sufficient knowledge and skill to operate a computer
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiar with web based computer programs
