TRIZ supports a highly complex technical environment, including extensive CAD and PLM platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter, and relies on robust, well-managed IT infrastructure to support its engineering operations.

We are seeking an experienced System and Network Administrator to serve as the site owner for GVW Group infrastructure in Cape Town, South Africa. This role provides hands-on operational support for TRIZ Engineering, Aculocity South Africa, and broader GVW Group systems, while working closely with and under the guidance of a US-based infrastructure team.
The role is responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of local IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power systems, and end-user environments. The position supports a demanding engineering environment with a significant CAD workstation footprint and enterprise platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter.
This is a high-visibility on-site role with direct responsibility for system reliability, performance, and end-user support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain on-site IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and supporting systems.
  • Administer and support the local network, ensuring security, availability, and performance.
  • Monitor systems and networks, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents in a timely manner.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, including Active Directory.
  • Perform routine backups and participate in disaster recovery operations.
  • Support end-user systems, including CAD workstations, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Collaborate closely with US-based infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with global standards and practices.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies and participate in the implementation of new systems and improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in system and network administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Windows-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN networking, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and operational best practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and operate independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across time zones.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and develop professionally.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA are preferred
Additional Qualifications and Requirements
  • Familiarity with CAD workstation environments and Siemens Teamcenter is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work closely and continuously with a US-based team, potentially requiring schedule flexibility.
  • This is an on-site position with hands-on end-user support responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry computer and networking equipment as required.
