Summary:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst (Intermediate II) supports the delivery of enterprise BI solutions, ensuring dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with established standards. This role is responsible for designing and standardizing core BI components, including source-to-target mappings, semantic data models, and business measures, ensuring consistency and alignment between business definitions and technical implementation.

 

Operating with a high degree of independence, this role owns defined initiatives and engages directly with stakeholders to gather requirements, deliver solutions, and communicate insights. The BI Analyst is accountable for high-quality data analysis, solution design, and delivery, leveraging strong expertise in SQL, BI tools, and data modeling to build scalable and reliable reporting solutions.

 

This position contributes to BI workstreams supporting the Microsoft Fabric platform strategy, ensuring alignment with defined architecture, standards, and governance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

 

BI Delivery & Execution

  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources to generate actionable insights.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including data mappings, model structures, and reporting outputs.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure release readiness for assigned deliverables.
  • Own delivery of assigned BI initiatives, dashboards, and paginated reports in alignment with business priorities and required timelines.
  • Complete all defined standard work items, including documentation, testing validation, deployment checklists, and release procedures.
  • Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests while maintaining prioritization discipline.
  • Support migration of legacy reports to Fabric workspaces.

Data Design and Modelling

  • Design and maintain Source-to-Target Mappings, defining how data moves from source systems into curated models, ensuring traceability and alignment with business requirements.
  • Ensure data lineage, transformation rules, and assumptions are clearly documented and maintained. Translate business processes and requirements into scalable dimensional data models (facts & dimensions) aligned with enterprise standards.

    Define and coordinate implementation of semantic layer structures within Power BI / Fabric to support consistent and reusable reporting.

    Collaborate with data engineering and BI development teams to ensure data pipelines align with defined mappings and business logic.

Stakeholder Engagement

    Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, validate outputs, and ensure alignment with business needs.

    Communicate analytical findings clearly and provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making.

  Educate and train users on reporting tools and semantic models to drive adoption of the Momentum platform.

Operational & Team Contribution

  • Ensure BI solutions meet established standards for data quality, usability, documentation, naming conventions, governance, and security.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of BI standards, including source to target mapping templates, modeling guidelines, and BI best practices.
  • Actively pursue ongoing professional development and technical skill advancement.
  • Act within role as the Service Desk Request Coordinator (South Africa), managing intake processes as assigned and serving as the first point of contact for BI-related incidents in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

 

Requirements

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related).

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence.
  • Strong experience writing complex SQL queries and working with relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools (Power BI, SSRS).
  • 3+ years of experience designing dimensional data models and applying data warehousing concepts (star schema, normalization tradeoffs, fact/dimension design).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights for business stakeholders.
  • Experience within automotive or manufacturing environments is preferred
