Description

ActioNet has an immediate opportunity for an IT Manager requiring a Public Trust clearance located in Silver Spring, MD.  This is a Hybrid position (2-3 days onsite). In this role, you will be the main Point of Contact (POC) responsible for providing IT support to desktop users, and for supporting, maintaining, and updating IT systems used on research vessels, and research aircraft.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive team leader responsible for monitoring network infrastructure and resolving system issues.  Possesses experience working with IT performance management, network administration, and system security.  Must be able to work with various people and departments and maintain confidentiality.  Must be available to provide service desk support after normal business hours. Familiarity with data protection regulations, active directory, ServiceNow, virtual machines, imaging, and patching is greatly desired. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide leadership and direction for IT Operations, ServiceNow, and Software Development staff, providing client and project management support, leading to high-quality client delivery.
  • Maintain and optimize local networks and servers.
  • Be responsible for device and password management.
  • Oversee data backup and system security operations (e.g. user authorization, firewalls).
  • Manage installations, upgrades, and configurations of hardware and software.
  • Assess system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Resolve issues escalated by technicians and engineers.
  • Ensure data is handled, transferred, or processed according to legal and company guidelines.
  • Provide support and guidance to stakeholders via the service desk.
  • Manage contracts with vendors (e.g. development platforms, telecommunication companies, password managers) and software licenses.
  • Develop IT policies and practices.
  • Plan, initiate, and manage information technology (IT) projects.
  • Lead and guide the work of technical staff.
  • Monitor progress to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
 
Basic Qualifications: 
  • Five (5) or more years as an IT Manager managing and leading Enterprise Service Desk teams utilizing Agile and ITIL methodologies for the Federal Government.
  • ITIL 4 certification, is preferred.
  • Managed a team of over 10+ IT professionals.
 
Preferred: 
  • Proven experience as IT Manager.
  • Experience with system installation, configuration, and analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of networks and cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of data protection operations and legislation (e.g. GDPR).
  • Experience utilizing Hyper-V technology.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
