Lead Development Rep

As a Lead Development Representative (LDR) you will be an important member of the sales organization, playing a critical role in qualifying leads, profiling customers and providing input on which sales campaigns generate the best leads. Working in collaboration with your global peers, marketing, field sales executives, and the partner channel, your primary objective is to identify and help create qualified opportunities for the territory you will own.  You will have a strong team around you to work with – your LDR peers, a lead development technical engineer, and an LDR Manager to name a few.  You will also be very engaged in a hot cloud technology, and working collaboratively with Actian’s cross-functional teams, such as marketing and product management.  Your focus will be to drive increased sales velocity out of the demand generation company engine – in simple terms: setting up new opportunities for our field sales executives to engage and solve client problems.


  •  Focused on cloud computing and Actian’s Hybrid Strategy - create, manage and drive lead conversion to sales opportunities for inbound and outbound leads – for your territory

  • Utilize enterprise tools (Marketo, Salesforce, DiscoverOrg, and more) to monitor and manage prospects and to drive a programmatic approach to your daily and weekly achievements

  • Conduct discovery calls / discussions with prospects and existing customers over the phone to identify and qualify new opportunities

  • Understand customer pain points, gather technical requirements and correlate business value to customer needs

  • Generate interest and provide vision of the Actian’s Hybrid Software Strategy

  • Understand existing and developing technologies as it relates to cloud computing and data management

  • Update and maintain customer information within Salesforce.com

  • Provide field sales executives with systematic (Salesforce) detailed call notes to ensure the opportunity is understood and next steps are clearly defined

  • Work closely with your Territory Field Sales representatives to ensure alignment of objectives

  • Present a high level, technical solution to diverse audiences which include  prospective customers, partners, Actian cross-functional teams

  • Achieve monthly and quarterly goals

  • College/University Degree or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Technical interest with 2 year or more of experience in IT prospecting or sales

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales or demand generation within the technology sector

  • Target oriented: enjoys owning a territory and assisting to achieve territory sales goals in a positive teaming environment

  • Self-starter with highly developed interpersonal skills and organizational skills, decisive and result oriented who is prepared to work in a fast-paced

  • 1 year or more of experience using a CRM/Customer Relationship Management tool

  • 1 year or more of experience using the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Cloud sales exposure desired but not mandatory
