Location:  Washington, D.C.

Clearance Requirement:  Eligibility for a Government Public Trust (SF-85) background investigation (US Citizenship required)

As a Storage Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for design, installation, configuration, security and maintenance of highly available enterprise data storage systems.
  • Monitor performance, errors, and warnings on storage systems.
  • Maintain storage policies and standards.
  • Troubleshoot storage performance problems and propose short term fixes and long term solutions.
  • Refresh data from one environment to another at the request of the application development staff.
  • Perform backups as per client defined schedule
  • Perform restores and recovery of storage
  • Develop, follow, maintain, and produce in-house documentation for repeatable processes, including database feature installation, disaster recovery, and common problem resolution.
  • Assist in creating automation and process improvements toward greater efficiency, reduced incidents, and proactive systems management.
  • Support tickets and manage incidents, service requests, and problems through their full life-cycle.
  • Provide health and performance reporting and take appropriate actions based on trends in data.
  • Document status updates and communicate to necessary parties.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and knowledge articles for Shared Desk and Help Desk teams.

 Are You:

  • Bringing 6+ years of experience in Storage, able to offer conceptual knowledge as well as practical application?
  • Experienced with EMC Isilon NAS, EMC Isilon NL400 NAS, EMC VNX SAN, LibSafe/LibData Preservation Storage, EVO Media Storage System for Mac users and QNAP (EVO Backup).
  • Experienced with Cohesity Storage software for backaup of on premise datacenter storage and AWS S3 and Glacier storage
  • Experience with the following storage tools OneFS Isilon Storage Management System, VNX Unisphere SAN Management,  Netbackup, enterprise backup software and VEEAM Backup (for restores only)
  • Self-motivated in pursuing new issues and driving them to resolution
  • Familiar with ticketing systems and the value of good documentation
  • A US Citizen who can obtain a public trust clearance

Minimum Essential Functions:

  • Occasional travel to customer sites, including overnight travel
  • Flexible schedule to support necessary off-hours maintenance and upgrades
  • Support on-call rotation
  • Ability to use necessary equipment to execute primary job functions (long term computer use, etc.)
  • Assessing risk of specific issues and escalating to management for support in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to lift and move 30lbs

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area with overhead lighting. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.
